Well, it's a new twist on a tired old theme, that's for sure.
Yeah, Sarah hates this kind of stuff--taking a childish thing and making it "adult" for humorous effect--but here I think the mixture of Bukowski-style writing and well-known Peanuts characters works well.
I often wonder if Peanuts was a lot funnier when I was a kid because Shultz's writing was fresher and the jokes better, or if they were always the same, and I just found them funnier as a kid. I'm still not sure.
Both, I'll bet. You know what keeps me up at night is wondering whether The Family Circus was EVER funny. Or whether I was just brain-dead as a child.
